Roger H. Wendt

Roger H. Wendt, 72, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital.

 

He was born on June 22, 1940, in Milwaukee, a son of Eugene and Phyllis Keller Wendt.

 

Roger served with the United States Navy.

 

On July 7, 1962, he married Jo Ann “Josie” Redman, in Fond du Lac.  Roger and Josie celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 2012.

 

Roger was employed as a machinist at Giddings & Lewis for over 25 years before retiring in 2000.  He enjoyed woodworking and camping. 

 

Roger was a big hearted man who really loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them at home, as well as up north during camping season.

 

He is survived by his wife, Josie; three children:  Steve (Shelly) Wendt of Fond du Lac, Kim Wendt-Healy (Mike) of Monterey, California, and John Wendt (Bobbi Neumann) of Madison; three grandchildren:  Matt, Nicole, and Sierra; three sisters and one brother:  Diane Mintzlaff of Ohio, Ronnie (Betty) Wendt of Arizona, Sue Torres of Fond du Lac, and Darlene (Jim) Loehr of Fond du Lac.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law:  Roger Mintzlaff and Mike Torres.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division St., Fond du Lac, with Rev. Jennifer Dawson officiating. 

 

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
