Ruby Marie Schneider
Ruby Marie Schneider, 97, a resident of Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary, Wis., died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Wis. while surrounded by her family. She was born in Johnsburg, Wis. on January 18, 1919, the only child of Henry and Pauline (Theryl) Freund. Ruby married Joseph F. Schneider at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg on September 3, 1941. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1985.
Ruby cherished family and friends. She enjoyed baking and quilt making. She loved cats and tending to the flowers in her garden. For many years, Ruby and Joseph ran the Schneider Garage in Johnsburg. In addition, Ruby worked in the Fabric Department at Pranges in Fond du Lac and was eventually employed by the Malone Co-Operative.
While living in Johnsburg, Ruby was a member the Christian Mothers, eventually becoming its president. She co-founded the Johnsburg 4-H club where she remained active for many years. In addition, Ruby was a member of the church choir. In later years, Ruby resided in New Berlin, Wis. where she belonged to a Senior Group. Eventually, she moved into the Regency Assisted Living Facility in New Berlin. While a resident there, she was active in crafts and enjoyed participating in senior discussion groups. In 2015, Ruby became a resident of Villa Loretto.
Ruby is survived by her 3 children; Gene (Patricia) of Glen St. Mary, Fla., John (JoAnn) of Johnsburg and Bonnie (Kevin) Hirsch of New Berlin; 5 grandchildren, Joelle (Lt. Col.Thor) Curcio of McGuire AFB, N.J., Jessica (J.P.) Benjamins of Brookfield, Wis., Erin Schneider of Waukesha, Wis., Matthew (Megan) Schneider of Madison, Wis. and Kendyl Jones of Glen St. Mary; and 6 great-grand-children. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and 2 daughters-in-law, Kathleen and Betty.
A visitation for Ruby will be held on Thur., Feb. 11, 2016 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, N9288 County Hwy W in Johnsburg. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 PM with Fr. Gary Wagner officiating. Following cremation, a private family burial will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
