Orlando and Sadie Koll.  She attended St.
Mary’s Elementary School and graduated from Fond du Lac High School in
1939.  Ruth worked at Schilling
Collection Agency until enlisting in the United States Navy Training Program in
the spring of 1943.  Upon completion of
basic training, Ruth worked in the Naval Legal Department and reported to the
Judge Advocate and the Board of Inquiry as a Court Investigator and reporter
with rank of Yeoman 2nd class.  She met her future husband Lt. Glenn Winfield
Honeck, a naval aviator at the United States Naval Station in Glenview,
Illinois.  They were married there on
September 9, 1944.  They lived in San
Francisco and Kansas City before settling in Hinsdale, Illinois to raise their
four children.

While
living in Hinsdale, she worked at the Hinsdale Junior High School and was very
active in volunteering at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church.  After all the children  finished school, Ruth and Glenn moved to
Deerfield, Illinois.  She worked at
Highland Park Hospital but enjoyed cruising and entertaining family and friends
on their houseboat on the Mississippi River. After losing the love of her life,
Ruth retired to her winter home on Pine Island, Florida and returned to Fond du
Lac, Wisconsin to enjoy summers on Lake Winnebago.  She volunteered at St. Agnes Hospital and
Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of The Daughters of Isabella.  Ruth had the opportunity to participate in
the 2010 EAA Old Glory Honor Flight.
