Scott E. Detert

Scott E. Detert, 51, of Fond du Lac, died of natural causes on Monday, October 7, 2013.  He was born January 17, 1962 and raised here in Fond du Lac.

Scott graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Marquette University.  Over the years, Scott had worked in a variety of engineering jobs in Fond du Lac.

One of his greatest joys over the years was his involvement with the Fond du Lac Community Theatre.  Scott was very dedicated to the group both on stage and off stage as an actor, set designer and builder, building maintenance supervisor, and Board Member.  His contributions were many, and he touched the lives of all who had the great pleasure of working with him.  Over the years, Scott also built many friendships within the AA community of good hearted people who provided support and encouragement for him as he gave of himself to so many others.

Scott is survived by his son Alexander Detert of Fond du Lac and his daughter Anastasia Detert of Madison; two brothers, Eugene Detert of Greenfield and Michael Detert of Fond du Lac; two sisters, Debbi Rebek of North Fond du Lac and Lori McCanna; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac.  Friends are encouraged to share in pictures, stories and fellowship.

Scott’s cremated remains will be buried in Estabrooks Cemetery with his family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name and can be directed to his brother, Michael Detert.
