Susan Patricia (Gjertson) Reader

Susan Patricia (Gjertson) Reader, 64, of Fond du Lac, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away March 18, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Susan was born December 11, 1949 in Fond du Lac a daughter of the late George and Dorothy Holland Gjertson.

On July 4, 1975 she married Kenneth G. Reader at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church.

Susan was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School, class of 1968. Prior to the birth of her children, Susan was employed by the U.S. Forest Service and Gross Trucking. Susan loved being a mother and raising her children. She enjoyed crafting, and Christmas movies.

Having struggled with health problems for the past 13 years, the past 18 months have been a great joy for her to watch her special little granddaughter grow into a thriving and happy little girl.

Survivors include her loving husband, Ken, one daughter, Heather (Kelly) Reader-Schubert of North Fond du Lac, three sons, Scott Reader, Daniel Reader, and Jared Reader all of Fond du Lac, a granddaughter, Katelyn Susan Schubert of North Fond du Lac. She is further survived by four brothers, Robert (Carol) Gjertson of Port Washington, Richard (Diane) Gjertson of Shiocton, David Gjertson of Atlanta, GA, and Gary (Gayle) Gjertson of Kansas City, KS, three sisters, Barbara (Mark) Robertson of Burnsville, MN, Mary Zwicker of Fond du Lac, and Kathleen (Robert) Crouch of Fond du Lac, a special cousin, Marsha Jurgensmeier of Brandon, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, her mother-in-law, Marguerite “Muggsy” Reader, and her brothers-in-law, Robert Zwicker, Jeffery Reader.

Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday March 22, 2014 at Zacherl Funeral Home.

Services: A memorial service will be celebrated at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials in her name will be used for the benefit of neonatal intensive care patients and their families.
