Thomas K. Bartelt

Thomas K. Bartelt, 77
years old, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at his
home.

 

A funeral service will be
held on Friday, February 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Fond
du Lac, with Pastor Jeff Blain officiating. A visitation will take place on
Friday, February 17 from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service at 5:30 p.m. at
the church. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.

 

Tom was born the son of
Edward ‘Adele’ and Edith (Grabow) Bartelt on November 14, 1939. He was united
in marriage to Joyce Lehmann on January 16, 1960 at Bethany Lutheran Church in
Hustisford. Tom had numerous degrees in education finishing with a Master
Degree in Administrative Education. Tom was a lifelong educator in and out of
the class room and taught in schools until 1977. When school wasn’t in session
Tom always stayed busy and found time to work for Mayville Home Improvement,
Zimmel’s bowling alley, and Krieser Construction. After he was done teaching
Tom and his wife Joyce managed the Mayville Golf Course for over 12 years and
enjoyed the time spent on and off the golf course and especially the
friendships made along the way. He enjoyed golf, karaoke, and of course, the UW
Badgers and Green Bay Packers. Tom also liked bird watching and the game show
network. He will fondly be remembered for his kind smile and the phrase ‘You
don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here!’

 

Tom was a member of
Ascension Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, a past member of the Mayville Fire
Department, a member of the Dodge County Teacher’s College Alumni, and also
served as past President and Director of Dodge County Tavern League.

 

Tom is survived by his
loving wife- Joyce of Fond du lac. His children- Todd (Shelley) Bartelt of West
Bend, Chrystal (Scott Heim) Yonke of Fond du Lac and Lotti Westmoreland of
Bern, Switzerland. His brothers- Jim (Marion) Bartelt of Mayville, Jan (Stella)
Bartelt of Madison, and Lon (Mary Jo) Bartelt of Mayville. His 5 grandchildren-
Nicole Suchomel, Tyler (Lindsey) Bartelt, Dylan Bartelt, Sara Yonke, and Amber
Yonke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Tom is preceded in death
by: his parents and his sisters- Shirley Mann, Laurie Schultz, and Holly
Schroeder.
