Virginia Ann Michler

Virginia Ann Michler, 88, of
Fond du Lac, passed away at her home on Monday, December 1, 2014.

 

She was born on November 20,
1926, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Max and Phyllis Wyrembeck. She graduated in
1945 from Holy Angels High School, Milwaukee. 

 

On April 12, 1950, she
married Paul W. Michler at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.

 

Through the years, she was
employed at Wenzlaff Jewelry and Gift shop, a bookkeeper at her husband’s
business, Michler Motors Inc., Wiley-Smith Clinic, and was the business manager
of the dental offices of Dr. Gerald and Richard Haskett, and Dr. James Flood
Dental Clinic. She later managed the fundraising office for St. Mary’s Springs
High School Crusade in the late 1960’s.

 

She had a double knee
replacement in 1989, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2001, and
Alzheimer’s in 2007.

 

She was an active member of
the Green Thumb Garden Club, the Exchange Club of Fond du Lac, the Fond du Lac
Women’s Club, and a life member of the Wisconsin Garden Club Federation.  For many years, Virginia attended weekly
bible class with many friends. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at Faith Ev.
Lutheran Church and

Hope Lutheran Church.  Virginia loved her church and attended with
Paul every Sunday and holidays for 64 years. 
She served as the first lady of the city during the years her husband,
Paul, served as president of the city council from 1970 – 1973.

 

Virginia was loved and
admired by everyone she had ever met. In her later years, she was a secret
admirer of Green Bay Packer #12 – Aaron Rogers. She loved traveling with her
husband, visiting 49 states, putting over 105,000 miles on their motor home, as
well as touring Canada, Mexico, China, Japan, and Europe with their son Jim.  She also enjoyed lunches with her husband at
her two favorite restaurants, Trepanier’s Backyard Grill and Culver’s.

 

She was a wonderful wife,
mother, grandmother, homemaker, baker, quilter, storyteller, gardener, bird
lover, and is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Paul W. Michler; her
two sons: Jim Michler and wife Cheryl Michler of Whitefish Bay, and Jack
Michler and wife Cheryl Michler of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren:  Ross Michler of New York City, Cassandra
Michler of Hollywood, CA., Stuart Michler of Los Angeles, CA., and Cody Michler
of Hollywood, CA.; two sisters: Arlene Wolfe of Buttes de Morts, and Judy
Wyrembeck of Oshkosh; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and lastly her prized
Pomeranian lap dog, “Molly”.

 

She was preceded in death by
her parents; one brother, Edward Wyrembeck; and one sister, Phyllis Snyder.

 

The visitation will be on
Friday, December 5, 2014, at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street, Fond du
Lac, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

 

The funeral service will be
held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at church with Rev. Steve Huff officiating.

 

Burial will be in Rienzi
Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials
appreciated to Hope Lutheran Church, the Green Thumb Garden Club, and The
Alzheimer’s Association – Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter.
