William “Alan” Stoppleworth

William “Alan” Stoppleworth, 82, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.  He was born on June 28, 1930, the son of Leo and Leona (Zeigler) Stoppleworth of Cross Plains, WI.

He attended Saint Francis Xavier Grade School at Cross Plains and attended four high schools, graduating in 1948 from Oakfield High School.

He married Betty (Hausinger) Wise on February 25, 1963. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the family-owned Excavating and Grading Company for 25 years. He became a part-time owner when the company was incorporated. Poor health caused his early retirement in 1993, and he sold his interest to his brother.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; one stepson, John A. (Judean A.) Wise, of Fond du Lac; two step-grandsons, John A. Wise, of Milwaukee and Matthew W. Wise of Fond du Lac; three brothers, Neill (Marlene) of Oakfield, Gary (Sharon) of Arizona, and James (Patricia) of Saginaw, MI; sister-in-law Kathleen (Arthur) Aigner of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law James (Diane) Hausinger of Florida; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and relatives and friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Leland.
