110,000 Claims Filed Last Week, WI Workforce Development Adds 25 To Staff

There were over 110,000 unemployment claims filed last week in Wisconsin. Now, the Department of Workforce Development has announced that their request to add 25 more staff members to assist in processing those claims, has been approved.

The COVID-19 pandemic has ramped up unemployment insurance claims to levels not seen before. Over 98 percent of the claims filed, were able to file online, reducing the need to contact a claims specialist. “I appreciate The Department of Administration’s swift action in approving this position authority to help process UI claims,” DWD Secretary Caleb Frostman said. “DWD will move quickly to hire, train and get these additional staff members in a position to provide support for out of work Wisconsinites.”
