21-Year-Old Woman Convicted of Aiding a Felon in Dodge Co.

A 21-year-old woman faces up to a year and a half in prison
after being convicted on charges of Aiding a Felon. Dakota Schlesner was found
guilty of the charge in Dodge County Court on Thursday. Prosecutors say Schlesner
helped Nigel Schultz hide the body of Bradlee Gerkee, who he murdered in
October of last year. Reports say Schultz had Schlesner help him move and bury
Gerkee’s body at her parents’ home in rural Ashippun. Days later, Schultz sent
text messages to Schlesner telling her to manipulate the grave where Gerkee’s
body was buried, to which she complied. She did not report the murder to authorities
until her father discovered the grave and called police. Schlesner told deputies
she aided Schultz because she feared if she did not, he would kill her. In
addition to the prison time, Schlesner also faces two years of extended
supervision. A sentencing hearing has been set for January 9th of
2020.
