Fond du Lac Duo Teams Up To Win Mercury National

Three teams from Fond du Lac County finished in the top 10 of the Mercury Marine National Walleye Tournament held on Lake Winnebago over the weekend.

The team of Chad and Josh Liedke of Fond du Lac finished first out of 268 teams. The two teamed up to bring in a total of 23 pounds, 10 ounces of walleye, beating out the runner-up duo of Tom and Hunter Camp of Fox Lake, who finished with a two-day total of 22 pounds, 9 ounces.

Eli Gustafson and Mike Barker of Fond du Lac finished in 6th place with twenty one pounds. Kevin and Mike Blanck of Malone reeled in twenty pounds twelve ounces, which put them in eighth place for the tournament.

Despite tournament officials making the decision earlier in the year not to have spectators watch the weigh in up close and personal, hundreds of family, friends and fishing enthusiasts lined the channel in Lakeside Park both days to witness the official results.

The first place finishers took home a new Lund boat with a Mercury 150 Pro XS engine and $5,000 in cash among other prizes.
