Fire Destroys Bank St. Home, Damages 2 More

Three families were displaced following an early Sunday morning fire in Fond du Lac.

KFIZ’s Breaking News Editor, Doug Raflik, was on the scene on W. Bank St. following the notification at 2:16 am Sunday (4/24/2022).

It appeared that the fire started on the porch, which was fully engulfed when Raflik arrived. The wind quickly blew the fire into the two and a half story house causing it to spread very fast.

Two neighboring homes, each on the East and West side of 23 W. Bank St., caught on fire due to the extreme heat and punishing winds.  These structures sustained moderate-to-major damage.

According to Interim Fond du Lac Fire Chief Erick Gerristson, all occupants of the three homes were able to escape, but he did say two FDL Firefighters sustained minor injuries but were able to return to work. KFIZ’s Doug Raflik did report a baby just a few houses down was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the families.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
