Accident Victim Was Goodrich Grad, Former Marine & Food Pantry Volunteer

He was a former Marine, a police officer, a DCI Special Agent. He also took time to volunteer frequently at the Fondy Food Pantry. He was a 1983 Graduate of Goodrich High School. And all of that was wiped out last week when he was killed in a head-on collision while operating his motorcycle.

55-year old Phillip Thiessen was struck and killed July 3rd by 27-year old Daniel Navarro. Navarro made his initial court appearance Thursday, via video conference, where Judge J. Wirtz set bond at $1 million dollars. Navarro stated he left his house in his red pickup truck, and was thinking about killing someone with his vehicle earlier in the day. He said he chose to hit someone on a motorcycle, instead of a car, because he wanted the person to die and not be paralyzed. Navarro is due back in court July 17.
