ACE Academy Open House Tonight at FDL HS

The Fond du Lac School District will be showcasing its new
ACE Academy tonight. The Architecture, Construction and Engineering Academy
will be hosting an open house at Fond du Lac High School this evening.
Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert tells KFIZ the academy is the largest
collaboration between K-12 education and the business community in the state of
Wisconsin – and credits two men in particular for helping get the academy off
the ground.

“Bob Roehrig and then Pat Smith. Those two gentlemen just
had a passion to get this going, and have been incredible advocates and
supporters.” Sebert said. “They have really been the key to engaging the
business community, who has stepped up – not only financially, but has stepped
up in terms of donations.”

Sebert also credits the Fond du Lac Area Foundation  for their donation of $100,000 for the
purchase of state-of-the art tools and equipment, and the academy’s Curriculum
Committee – for helping students learn from members of the business community
about day-to-day work in the industry. Sebert adds that there are limitless opportunities with the academy and it will connect students with area business who are constantly hiring for good paying jobs. The Open House runs from 4:30 to 8 this
evening at the high school – and will feature student demonstrations starting
at 5:30, with a welcome ceremony at 6:30.
