Agnesian HealthCare Welcomes Endocrinologist

Agnesian HealthCare welcomes Steven Magill, MD, PhD, a new endocrinologist, who is now seeing patients at St. Agnes Hospital, 430 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac.

In collaboration with Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Magill is joining Drs. James Findling and Beth Lalande to offer endocrinology services. All three doctors are board certified in endocrinology and metabolism, and exclusively practice endocrinology.

They also practice along with two of their advanced practice professionals,  physician assistant Amy Burmesch and nurse practitioner Jennifer Schaeve, to provide endocrinology consultations, diagnostic evaluations and follow-up care to patients with endocrine disorders.

Endocrinologists have expertise in the evaluation and treatment of patients with common endocrine disorders, such as diabetes, thyroid disease, cholesterol abnormalities, hypertension, obesity and osteoporosis.  They also evaluate and treat men with low testosterone and women with excessive facial hair and irregular menstrual cycles.

Endocrinologists additionally have expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with adrenal tumors, pituitary tumors and thyroid nodules and cancer.  Additionally, there are many rare endocrine diseases some of which are genetic syndromes that endocrinologists are trained to diagnose and treat.

“I enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with patients and work closely with nurses, dietitians and other providers to develop a plan of care,” according to Dr. Magill. “Communication is essential to ensuring the most appropriate care is offered to all patients and families that we serve.”

Dr. Magill earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, his internal medicine residency from the University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics, and his endocrinology fellowship from the University of Michigan Medical Center.

“I look forward to starting my practice here and seeing patients with many different endocrinology issues,” says Dr. Magill. “This is a new and exciting opportunity to offer this level of service in the Fond du Lac area.”

Dr. Magill and his wife, Debora, have five children. He enjoys spending time bicycling, cross country skiing, reading fiction, dining at new restaurants and traveling.
