AHC Foundation Charity Open Chairpersons Announced

On Monday, August 15, golf enthusiasts will be enjoying a day of fun at South Hills Golf & Country Club in Fond du Lac. However, there is a deep meaning to their golf game, and other festivities, as they gather to support Agnesian HealthCare’s Hospice Hope services.

Thanks to the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Charity Open, now in its 28th year, patients and families in need of these vital services can count on the quality providers that offer hospice care at a local level.

This year, the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Charity Open is being led by Dr. Karen Meyer and Kurt Krueger as senior chairpersons, with Dr. Burt & Alysia Steffes joining as junior chairpersons.

“The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation Charity Open has raised more than $4 million in the past 27 years, and we are looking forward to another successful event this year,” says Dr. Meyer. “The Charity Open provides a fun way to support such an important cause in this community. The need will only continue to grow.”

Continued financial support is essential to help patients and families that are facing end-of-life illnesses. The mission of hospice is to affirm life and view death as a natural process. Hospice is designed to help patients live the remainder of their lives as fully as possible. An interdisciplinary team of trained professionals work together to deliver hospice services that can make that dream a reality.

“This event truly benefits those in need of hospice services,” says Dr. Steffes. “We are extremely grateful to those who help support the patients and families who ultimately benefit from the Charity Open.”

Currently, the Charity Open committee is making plans for another great day of golf, elegant dining and an exciting auction. This year’s raffle gives people the opportunity to win the first-place prize of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude FWD or a $15,000 cash prize. The second prize is $5,000 cash; third prize is $2,500 cash; fourth prize is $1,500 cash; and fifth place is $1,000 cash. A limited number of tickets will be sold at four for $150 or $50 each.

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation can now accept credit card ticket sales by phone. All other purchases will continue to occur face-to-face, without sales by mail.

Agnesian HealthCare Hospice Hope serves nearly 900 individuals and families annually,” says Holly Brenner, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation president. “Patients receive hospice care on average for 72 days. About 40 percent of Hospice Home of Hope patients receive some financial assistance for room and board.

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation is proud to support Hospice Hope and the Hospice Home of Hope through its annual Charity Open,” Brenner adds. “And, we appreciate the ongoing support that individuals, business leaders and organizations give to the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation to help us continue to meet the growing need for hospice care in our communities.
