Alligator Rescued From Long Lake, Owner Being Sought

It’s not something you typically hear about in Wisconsin, much less see.

But a group of kids found an American alligator swimming in Long Lake July 1.

The alligator was netted in Long Lake on Friday, July 1 in the Fond du Lac County town of Osceola.

Employees of J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue, located in Menasha, say the alligator was spotted swimming in Long Lake, and was caught with a net by a group of kids.

Legally, J&R Aquatic is able to take in alligators up to 30 inches long.

The two-foot long gator did not pose any harm to anyone, and the plans are to place the gator in a sanctuary if no one claims him. As of now, the search is on for the owner.
