Amtrak Thinking Big, Could Add Green Bay, Eau Claire, Madison To Route

Amtrak is thinking big as Congress considers the Biden administration’s two-trillion-dollar infrastructure plan.

If approved, Madison, Eau Claire, and Green Bay would be connected to the heavily-used route between Milwaukee and Chicago. A map was released Wednesday night showed a route running from Duluth to Milwaukee. Travelers going the other direction could ride the train as far as Seattle and Portland, Oregon. Amtrak points out that train travel is 83-percent more efficient than driving a car and 73-percent more efficient than flying. No timeline has been cited, but the entire nationwide project could be completed in less than 14 years.
