Annie’s Big Reveal Held In Downtown FDL

Annie’s Fountain City Café in downtown Fond du Lac was the scene of a big reveal Wednesday morning. In January the restaurant won the Wisconsin Main Street Makeover competition winning $10,000 to renovate. Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership Executive Director Amy Hansen told a gathering in front of the restaurant the Fond du Lac Redevelopment Authority and DFP also put money into the project. Together with a kick starter fund and $85,000 of in-kind contributions the total project value came to $122,000. Annie’s owner Annie Culver thanked a number of people and her customers for their patience during the renovations. She said, “I want to thank you amazing customers because without you we would not be here today. I love everybody, I absolutely love coming to work and it has been killing me not being open I miss everybody so much.” City Manager Joe Moore noted the progress that has been made in the downtown since the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts remodel and expansion in 2013. He says, “What makes me so happy is I look north or I look south on Main Street is all these hopes and dreams. All these small business people who decided to come back downtown and open a business and Annie I want to congratulate you for making that happen.” Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch also spoke at the event and led a countdown over a bullhorn as a huge tarp was removed from the front of the business to reveal the changes that have been made to Annie’s.
