Anniversary Of Trooper Caspers Sacrifice

Today marks the first anniversary of the death of a state trooper in a shootout in Fond du Lac. Twenty-one-year-old Trooper Trevor Casper was from Kiel. He was working on his own for the first time when he spotted bank robbery suspect Steve Snyder’s car. Casper followed him into Fond du Lac and investigators say Snyder ambushed Casper. Snyder also died. Captain Anthony Burrell is with the State Patrol. He says Casper’s efforts don’t go unnoticed. He says the citizens of this state and the Fond du Lac community remember him as a hero and he will always be honored as such because of his sacrifice. Burrell says a day doesn’t go by without troopers thinking about Casper. He says law enforcement is a family and they lost one of their members.
