Apartment Building Fire In FDL

Fond du Lac firefighters were dispatched shortly after 3 a.m. this morning for a fire at an apartment building at 362 N. Seymour Street. Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says the fire was first reported on the second floor in the living room of one of the apartments. He says there was heavy fire and smoke when they arrived and they attacked it. He says they thought they had the fire knocked down. However they witnessed heavy smoke coming from the eaves and roof vents. He says they were cutting a ventilation hole so they stop the fire from spreading to the next apartment. Haase says the ceiling collapsed in the apartment that was damage by fire and there was damage extending out into the hallway. There was also smoke and water damage throughout the building. No one was injured. Tenants were evacuated during the fire and the Red Cross was called in to assist. Town of Fond du Lac, Lamartine, Mt. Calvary and Oakfield Fire Departments were dispatched for mutual aid. FDL Fire Department photo.
