Appleton Man Arrested for Friday Night Pursuit on I-41

A 21-year-old Appleton man is being held in the Fond du
Lac County Jail on multiple charges after leading Sheriff’s Deputies on a high
speed chase on Interstate 41 Friday night. The Sheriff’s Office says the man
was taken into custody Monday night around 9:50 pm with assistance from the
Appleton Police Department.

A deputy had pulled over a vehicle around 8:40 pm Friday
on I-41 near County Highway F in the Town of Byron for an unsafe lane change
and because the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license. As the
deputy was attempting to identify the driver, who had given three names that
did not come back on file, the driver sped away from the scene in the car. The
pursuit went south on I-41 to Highway 49, then back north on the interstate to
Highway 26 near Oshkosh, where it was terminated as the deputy had obtained the
correct registration information matching the vehicle. The 29-mile chase
reached speeds of 107 miles per hour, no injuries or damage were reported.
