Appleton Man Arrested In FDL County Following High Speed Pursuit

A call Saturday night regarding a reckless driver on I-41 ends with an Appleton man being arrested.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department was notified Saturday (3/12/22) at 8:02 pm, of a reckless driver on USH 41 south bound near Lincoln Rd. in the Town of Eldorado.

The called stated a pickup truck was all over the roadway and crossing centerline to shoulder.

The truck exited onto Johnson St. where a Sheriff’s deputy attempted to make a traffic stop near Portage St.  The pickup truck increased its speed and failed to pull over for the Sheriff’s deputy.  

The pursuit continued west on Portage St. and then north onto Seymour St.  west on Johnson St and then north on  Pioneer Rd.  The pursuit then traveled west onto Scott St. /CTH OOO to CTH I before heading north to CTH OO.  

The truck continued east on CTH OO where the North Fond du Lac Police Department was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device.  

The pursuit traveled north onto Interstate 41 where the truck attempted to turn around to head southbound, loss control and crashed into a fence.

The driver took off on foot but was taken into custody near Townline Road and the Interstate 41 overpass.

The driver was identified as 32-year-old Appleton man.  He was transported to St.  Agnes hospital and released. He is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on several warrants and new charges related to the pursuit.  

The pursuit covered a distance of 8.7 miles.
