April 14th – 20th is Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in FDL County

Fond du Lac County has designated this week as Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to recognize the work of the men and women who staff the Fond du Lac County Communications Center. The Communications center is run by civilians, and serves 17 fire departments, five ambulance services, 10 first responder groups and nine law enforcement agencies throughout the county. Last year – more than 126,500 calls for service were logged for those agencies. The public is invited to an open house at the Communications Center at 63 Western Avenue in Fond du Lac on Tuesday (April 16th) from 3:30 until 6:30 pm. Tours of the 9-1-1 center will be provided, with demonstrations on how dispatchers interact with callers and how cellular 9-1-1 and Text-to-9-1-1 calls come into the center.
