Area Law Enforcement Agencies to Benefit from Drug Trafficking Response Grants

Law enforcement agencies and multijurisdictional drug enforcement groups in 48 Wisconsin counties will benefit from Drug Trafficking Response Grants that were announced this week by Attorney General Josh Kaul. The legislation, authored by Representative John Nygren and former State Senator Leah Vukmir, provided $1 million to the Wisconsin Department of Justice to award to law enforcement agencies for the investigation and response to drug trafficking. All organizations that applied were awarded funds up to $50,000.

Grant recipients from the local area include:

Lake Winnebago Area Multijurisdictional Enforcement Group (MEG Unit) – includes Sheriff’s Officers of Fond du Lac, Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago Counties – plus City of Fond du Lac Police, North Fond du Lac Police (and others). – received $50,000.

Calumet County Sheriff’s Office – $25.794

Sheboygan County Multijurisdictional Enforcement Group – $50,000

Washington County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Group – $33,951

Less than $85,000 in grant funds still remain available and will distributed through a separate grant process.
