Area Schools Prepare for State Mandated Closure This Week

Governor
Tony Evers has mandated that all public and private K-12 schools in the state
close starting Wednesday (March 18th) through at least April 5th
to help stop the spread of COVID-19. A running list of information for each
school district in the Fond du Lac area is below. This list will be updated as
new information becomes available, or changes are made.

 

Fond du
Lac School District:

 

The district will be in regular session Monday, March 16th, and students will be sent home with “technology, books and materials” sent home with them on Monday afternoon. Updated information from the district says food service will begin on March 18th and “virtual learning” will begin March 23rd – with more information on those areas forthcoming. All non-essential events expected to include 250 people or more are cancelled through April 5th. Student field trips have also been suspended for the next 30 days.  District website

 

Winnebago
Lutheran Academy:

 

Students
at WLA will be in regular session both Monday and Tuesday (March 16th
& 17th), with teachers asked to report for an Inservice day to
discuss “virtual learning strategies” on Wednesday. Spring break will be March
19th through the 29th, with classes being held online
March 30th to April 3rd. School website with more information

 

School
District of North Fond du Lac:

 

A post on
the district’s website indicates that the district is closed and is “anticipated
to remain closed through April 13th” due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The
website says students will be continuing classes online during the closure,
with further details about each grade level to be released Monday (March 16th). District website

 

Oakfield
Schools:

 

Students
will not be in class on Monday (March 16th), but will have class on
Tuesday. The district says they plan to have “various digital learning activities”
for students during the mandated closure. District website. 

 

Rosendale-Brandon
Schools:

 

Classes
are canceled in the Rosendale-Brandon School District starting Wednesday (March
18th). No other specifics were given on the district’s website. District website

 

Ripon
School District:

 

Students
in the Ripon School District are on Spring Break through March 23rd.
The district has scheduled a Staff Development Day on the 23rd, with
online classes set to begin for students on March 24th. District website

 

Campbellsport
Schools:

 

Students
will be in class for regular session Monday and Tuesday this week, with classes
cancelled starting Wednesday until at least April 6th. District Website

 

Lomira
Schools:

 

School is
closed both Monday and Tuesday – with online classes being held starting
Monday. The district is on Spring Break starting March 23rd to March
29th, with online classes resuming on March 30th. Staff
will be available at school on Monday if students need to meet with them, with
free day care available Monday and Tuesday. Maintenance staff will be conducting a
thorough cleaning day on Tuesday. District website

 

Waupun
Schools:

 

Students
will not be in school on Monday (March 16th), but will have a
regular school day on Tuesday (March 17th). Classes for students
starting Wednesday will be provided online or through special arrangements.
