Arrest Made In Horicon Bank Robbery

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with the bank robbery that occurred on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Horicon State Bank in Neosho.

The suspect is also suspected to be involved in a robbery that took place in Jefferson County.  Alan Schade, age 43 of Columbus, was taken into custody Thursday evening and has been booked into the Dodge County Jail.

The investigation was a joint effort between the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office.

Various other law enforcement agencies also assisted in the investigative process.  In a press release issued late Friday afternoon, Sheriff Dale Schmidt gave high praise for all involved in this investigation “as this was a true team effort in identifying and arresting a suspect so quickly.  This was not simply a Detective Bureau success, but included our Communications Officers and the Patrol Division as well as so many played a role in this investigation.”

Sheriff Schmidt also issued a reminder that all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.  Schmidt also said no additional details will be released by the sheriff’s office at this time as even though an arrest has been made, it continues to be an ongoing investigation.
