Assembly Passes State Budget

The State Assembly by a 52 to 46 vote passed the $73 billion state budget. Debate on the budget ran about 10 ½ hours and was interrupted for a couple hours by a bomb threat that cleared the Capitol chambers. Republican State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac says, “The legislature has continued prudent, fiscal budgeting to spend within our state’s fiscal means.” He called it a budget that is good for the 52nd State Assembly District. Democratic State Representative Gordon Hintz had a different opinion sending out a press release that said Republicans were debating an imaginary budget that they believed was good for Wisconsin. The release was accompanied by this picture of Mr. Rogers and a castle full of puppets. The budget now moves on to the Governor for his signature into law.
