ASTOP Volunteer Training Coming Up

Training sessions are coming up for people who would like to volunteer to help with ASTOP’s 24-hour crisis line. Angel Gilbertson is the co-director of the agency that provides services to sexual abuse and assault survivors. She says they help victims with the crisis line and their advocacy services. The crisis line allows people to call and talk and get resources if needed. She says the advocacy response is to local law enforcement and emergency rooms to assist survivors when they come in for a sexual assault report. She says volunteers are important to the services they provide, but must undergo three days of training. Those training dates are April 29th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 1st from 5 to 8 p.m., and May 3rd from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at ASTOP’s offices at 21 South Marr in Fond du Lac. Applications are available at the ASTOP offices. You can also call them at (920) 926-5395 for more information. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
