Awareness Of Domestic Violence May Be At All Time High

The interim executive director of the Solutions Center in Fond du Lac says the attention professional athletes accused of domestic violence against their wives or girlfriends have brought a lot of attention to the problem. Maggie McCullough says the NFL commissioner reached out to Kim Gandy the president and CEO of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Gandy says awareness of the problem may be at an all-time high. McCullough says unfortunately most cases don’t get as much attention because the victims and their abusers come from all walks of life. She says if you are a victim or know of one and want help you should call their 24-hour emergency line at (920) 923-1700. The United Way helps fund the Solution Center’s shelters. One in four women experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
