Back To School FDL Celebrates Twentieth Anniversary

Back to School FDL has been helping kids for 20 years.  It’s carried a variety of names, has had the support of numerous churches, businesses and organizations over this period, and has always maintained it’s primary purpose of providing eligible children with the school supplies they need to have a successful start to the school year.

Last year over 1,400 kids from Fond du Lac County were helped. More kids are anticipated to need supplies this year. “On Distribution Day, it’s so fulfilling to see all the children so excited about choosing their school supplies. The smiles and enthusiasm make all the effort so worthwhile. The community’s faithful support over the years has made all the difference,” says Scott Richter, the Back to School FDL team chair.

Help us serve our kids and celebrate our 20th anniversary four ways:

VISIT Casa del Tequila on July 9 or Buffalo Wild Wings on August 5 and both restaurants will donate a percentage of their proceeds from that day to Back to School.

DROP OFF school supplies at one of the Fill the Bus collection spots this summer held from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at all of these Fond du Lac locations: August 7 at Walgreens on Pioneer Road; August 8 at Shopko; August 14 at Walgreens on Main and Johnson; and August 15 at Walgreens across from Festival. Also be on the look-out for churches and businesses that will be participating in supply drives too.

VOLUNTEER to help a child pick out his school supplies on Saturday August 22, the day of the big event. Visit our Facebook page at “BACKTOSCHOOLFDLAREA” to sign up or to explore other volunteer opportunities.

DONATE to help purchase school supplies. $50 will provide a full backpack of supplies for one student, but any amount is appreciated. Checks can be sent to Back to School, PO Box 1747, Fond du Lac, WI 54936-1747.
