Ballweg Pleased With Passage Of Package Bills

State Representative Joan Ballweg says she’s encouraged by
the State Assembly’s recent passage of nine bills that grew out of the
Governor’s taskforce on opioid abuse. The state lawmaker from Markesan says one
of the bills would allow school districts and school camps to carry Narcan to
treat students or staff for a possible overdose. She says they are also
including funding so the State Justice Department has more investigators to
help prevent the flow of drugs into Wisconsin.
The funding would allow for four more investigators. Another bill in the
package would expand the use of drugs courts to help treat offenders before
they commit more serious crimes to fuel their drug habits.
