Ballweg Recognized For Work On Mental Health Policy

State Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) accepted a Legislative Mental Health Champion Award on behalf of Mental Health America’s Regional Policy Council during their regional policy meeting. During the meeting, Representative Ballweg had the opportunity to speak about mental health policy issues in Wisconsin.

Representative Ballweg is a member of the Committee on Mental Health, the Speaker’s Task Force on Foster Care, is a co-chair of the Wisconsin Legislative Children’s Caucus, and was a member of the 2013 Speaker’s Task force on Mental Health.

“Mental Health is critical to a person’s overall wellbeing,” said Ballweg. “It is important that we continue to advocate for these issues, and I am honored to be recognized for this award.”

Mental Health America’s Regional Policy Council aims to cultivate a constructive partnership with state policy leaders and other mental health stakeholders to work together to initiate and implement state policies that positively affect people living with mental health and substance use conditions.
