Barn Destroyed by Fire in the Town of Alto

A barn
was destroyed by fire in the Town of Alto
Sunday afternoon. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with the Alto
Fire Department were first called to the scene at N3562 Highway 49 just before
3pm. First responders reported the barn was fully engulfed by fire and was
located close to several outbuildings and a home on the property. The property
owner told sheriff’s deputies he was having a brush fire in the area which
ignited the barn. The barn and its contents are considered a total loss. No
animals were lost to the fire and no injuries were reported. Also assisting at
the scene were fire departments from Brandon,
Waupun, Ripon, Oakfield, Lamartine, Fox
Lake
, Markesan and
Rosendale along with LifeStar Ambulance and Alliant Energy. Traffic was re-routed
from Highway 49 to County Highway
E
and Hemp
Road
for about two hours while crews battled the
fire.
