Basement Fire Remains Under Investigation, Chief Says No Injuries

Fond du Lac Fire Rescue crews made quick work of a basement fire Thursday afternoon, but not before the fire caused a high level of damage.

Crews were call out just before 4:00 p.m. Thursday (2/3/2022) for reports of a fire in the basement of a residence in the 300 block of E. 10th St. in Fond du Lac.

Fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire but not before it had caused significant damage to the basement as well as heavy smoke damage throughout the home. The structure was deemed uninhabitable at this time.

According to Fire Chief Peter O’Leary, all residents were able to escape without injuries and the Red Cross was called in to assist with finding shelter for those displaced.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.

Fire Rescue Crews will be canvassing the area Friday (2/4/2022), passing out safety information to nearby residents.
