BBB of Wisconsin Reporting an Increase in Scams Involving Pets

The Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin is reporting an
increase in online scams involving puppies. That comes after multiple reports
from consumers of finding a pet online and paying up front, with the
expectation the puppy will be shipped to them. Instead of receiving their new
pet, the scammer pockets their money. The BBB says this is a common scam where
people usually lose around $1,000 before realizing its not real. Consumers are
encouraged to take steps to verify any seller before completing a purchase – and
perform thorough research about the product you’re buying – whether it be a pet,
or another item.
