Beaver Dam Woman Makes Court Appearance On Hit And Run Charges

A Beaver Dam woman is facing Hit and Run charges stemming from a Tuesday morning incident that occurred in Beaver Dam.

Maria Hernandez was in court facing multiple charges including a charge of Knowingly Operating a Vehicle without a Valid License.

The hit and run took place Tuesday (12/21/2021) morning just before 6:00 a.m., at the intersection of Wayland and East Burnett Street, that involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian.

Witnesses said they saw a vehicle, allegedly being operated by Hernandez, traveling at a high rate of speed, hit a pedestrian, then fled from the scene.

The 51-year old Hernandez told officers she didn’t see the victim because it was dark. The accident caused brain and spine injury to the pedestrian.

Hernandez could face up to eighteen and a half years in prison. A cash bond was set at $500. She is due back in court in January.
