Bill Would Make Student Transfers Easier

A bill advancing at the Capitol makes it easier for parents to transfer their kids to another school, if they don’t agree with their current district’s COVID-19 policies. Oconomowoc Representative Barb Dittrich is an author.

“There are families where perhaps the family has had COVID already, and they have natural antibodies, and they want their children to now be unmasked. Should they not be allowed to make that choice?”

The bill would also ease transfers if parents are concerned about a lack of face covering or vaccine requirements. The measure ensures state funding would follow the student to their new school.
