Bird City Events Planned In FDL This Week

Fond du Lac celebrates its fifth year as part of the state’s Bird City program with some events this week. Public Works Director Jordan Skiff says that includes a program at the Public Library tonight. Alan Haney a U-W Stevens Point professor and author will be talking about birds. Haney is the author of the book, “Jewels of Nature: Delightful Birds I Have Know.” Copies of the book will be available for sale during the talk, which is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and is free to attend. Others events are planned for Friday and Saturday. Those birding walks are Friday at 6 p.m. at the Camelot Business Park, Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Greenway Arboretum (55 W. Pioneer Road, west of the Pick ‘N Save parking lot), and Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Park west of the Main Street shelter. Participants should bring binoculars and comfortable footwear.
