Black Bear Spotted In FDL

Police in Fond du Lac spent some time looking for a black bear that was seen climbing over a fence at Fruth Field early Thursday morning. It was shortly after midnight. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says officers checked that area, but the bear was gone. They used night vision goggles to look for the bear. The bear was spotted two more times near the Fond du Lac River in the area of Doty and Division, and then near 1st and Vincent. Klein says it was a young bear and typically they avoid people. The DNR says young bears roam in the spring when they are forced out of their mother’s territory. DNR photo.
