Body Found In Lake Winnebago Identified, Sheriff Says Male Was Alive Earlier This Month

The body of the man found partially submerged in Lake Winnebago Sunday has been identified.

Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt released the identity Tuesday afternoon, saying the body was that of 57-year old Thomas D. Williams of Fond du Lac.

The circumstances surrounding the death of Williams and the location where his body was found remain under investigation.

The body of Thomas Williams was found Sunday afternoon, partially submerged in Lake Winnebago, near the west shoreline of a residence on Lakeshore Dr. in the town of Friendship.

Waldschmidt did say detectives have determined that Williams was still alive in early April of this year, and are asking the public to assist in providing any details that could help in the case. He also stated Monday (4/25/2022) that foul play was not suspected.
