Bomb Threat Received At Evans Elementary In FDL

Students at Evans Elementary School in Fond du Lac were evacuated after a bomb threat was received Wednesday morning just before 10 a.m. Police Captain Aaron Goldstein says a staff member took the phone call. He says it was recorded message with a man’s voice that talked about an explosive device being in the school with potential shrapnel and then the call ended. Students and staff were taken to Sabish Middle School, which is just up the street from Evans. Goldstein says it was a precautionary measure, but one taken for students and staff safety. He says this type of robocalling is random, but this involved a school. Police and school district staff searched the elementary school and determined the threat wasn’t credible. Students then were allowed to return.  Captain Goldstein says this type of robocall has hit schools across the area. He says about the same time Evans officials got the call another was being received by a school in the Neenah area.

Students then were allowed to go back to the school around 10:37 a.m.  Police says the threatening phone call was similar to other calls received at schools across the nation including an elementary school in Oshkosh.
