Bond Modification Granted For Reckless Homicide Suspect

A Fond du Lac County judge recently granted a motion to allow a 56-year-old Milwaukee man facing a reckless homicide charge to be transferred to a hospice in Milwaukee. Reginald Dorsey has terminal cancer and isn’t expected to live much longer. District Attorney Eric Toney says Judge Dale English modified the bond to allow Dorsey to receive hospice care in Fond du Lac, Milwaukee or adjoining counties to Milwaukee after hearing testimony from nurses with his current hospice placement. Judge English denied a motion to suspend the case, but allowed a September 25th motion hearing to be converted to a status conference. Toney says he objected to both motions, but Judge English went through a proper legal analysis and was very thoughtful in making his rulings and factoring in the victims rights. Dorsey is one of two men suspected of supplying 28-year-old Adam Ellman of Fond du Lac with the heroin that led to his death in July of 2012. The other is 50-year-old Jeffrey Abitz of Fond du Lac who has a jury trial in December.
