Book World Stores to Close

Book World has announced that it is closing all 45 of its
stores in the United States. The company made the announcement Tuesday citing a
loss in customers to “the national shift in the retail marketplace towards
e-commerce.”  An inventory liquidation
sale will begin Thursday, and the stores will remain open until the inventory
is sold. Book World was founded in Rhinelander in 1976 and is now based in
Appleton. The company operates stores in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota,
Illinois, Iowa, North Dakota and Missouri. Book World has 20 locations in
Wisconsin, including one on Main Street in Fond du Lac along with locations in
Oshkosh and West Bend.
