Brooke St. Lofts, City Of FDL, Receive $3.6 Million

Governor Tony Evers made a stop in Fond du Lac Thursday afternoon, and he brought a whole lot of government money with him.

“This is $3.6 million for the City of Fond du Lac” said Evers, in a short press conference in the Commonwealth Companies corporate office located at 24. S. Brooke St.

The grant money is earmarked for the Brooke St. Lofts project, will will create 62 units in what was the former Northern Casket Company building as well as a former cheese plant located on W. Division St.

The grant money was part of the Neighborhood Investment Fund, and Evers delivered $20.2 million on Thursday to communities in the Fox Valley. The City of Menasha was granted $2.0 million, while Neenah received $4.38 million, and Oshkosh granted $10.3 million.

WU Department of Administration secretary-designee Kathy Blumenfeld said over 200 applications were submitted totaling over $900 million in requests, with just over $200 million approved by the state.
