Brown County Rise In COVID-19 Cases Traced To Meat Packing Plant

The number of COVID-19 cases in Brown County rose by 119 over the weekend, and Health Department Spokesman Ted Shove says that jump has been linked to a meat packing plant in Green Bay. According to shove, “The clustered uptick or increase in cases that we’ve noticed is focused primarily in and around J-B-S in Green Bay.”

JBS facilities across the country have had similar spikes in Coronavirus cases, with a pork-packing facility in Worthington, Minnesota closing this week. Employees at the plant are considered essential and are being tested. Shove said “We have provided recommendations to JBS. If necessary, we will consider enforcement options.”

COVID-19 is not believed to spread through food.
