Building Security Topic On FDL City Council Agenda

Fond du Lac County Judge Dale English will give a presentation to the Fond du Lac City Council tonight about the need for security upgrades for the City-County Government Center. The Council discussed it last week during a session on the City’s 2018 Budget. City Manager Joe Moore says he hasn’t included anything in the budget for the upgrade, which would cost about $250,000 to man the north entrance of the building. The City’s share would be about $75,000 a year. Moore says to include it in next year’s budget he would have to remove something else. Council members discussed the possibility to maybe just make the second floor of the building secure, but Councilwoman Lee Ann Lorrigan says in the past they have had some hotly contested issues before the Council where additional security would have been nice. Also during the Council’s meeting they will consider amending the City’s fireworks ordinance to only allow the sale of novelty fireworks like small caps, snakes, sparklers and fountains in the City. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.
