Bullying Incidents Down In FDL Schools

Bullying incidents were down in the Fond du Lac School District during the last school year. The number of referrals dropped from 326 during the 2012-13 school year to 271 last year or a 17 percent reduction. Over half of those, 141, were in the middle schools. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says he’s glad to see the number of incidents is dropping, but they will keep working to reduce those incidents even more. He says efforts like their Positive, Behavior, Intervention and Support program or PBIS are creating a safer climate in school. Seventy percent of the bullying incidents were verbal and 94 percent of the reports resulted in a conference with the bully.
