Burglaries Fueled By Drug Use

Dodge County made some progress on solving burglaries in the northeast corner and the west side of the county in the past year. But Sheriff Dale Schmidt says it’s a temporary fix. He notes other burglaries continue to pop up and it is a continuing battle. Burglary rings are easier for detectives to resolve. That’s because more evidence becomes available at the multiple crime sites. Schmidt says the majority of their property crimes are related to drug use. The Sheriff’s Department is responsible for covering nearly 900 square miles in Dodge County.
