Busy Time for New Hires in FDL School District

The Fond du Lac School Board approved the hiring of two
new Assistant Principals in the district at their meeting Monday night. Nathan
Groves is moving into an assistant principal role at Fond du Lac High School,
replacing Steve Hernandez. Groves previously served as an AP Psychology teacher
at the school. Katherine Pogorelec will also be taking an assistant principal
role at the district. Pogorelec moves to Sabish Middle School after serving as
a special education teacher at the high school.

Summer is a busy time for resignations, retirements and
new hires for the district. Superintendent Jim Sebert said the board had five
resignations, two retirements and 10 new hires on the agenda for approval at
Monday night’s meeting. Sebert said that while a lot of staffing changes are
made in the summer months, he’s encouraged to see the number of applications
for teaching jobs continue to grow. “In working with universities, and talking
with people in teacher education and preparation programs – they also report
that the numbers are growing,” Sebert said. “I think that’s a good thing, and I’m
really glad that people are really considering teaching and education in
general as their career path.”
